On Saturday I went to a new overnight camp. This is the third overnight camp I have been in 2018. The camp is on a small island called Orcas Island.
I woke up at 6:30am and prepared everything for camp and double checked. At 7am I said goodbye to my little brother and my grandma. We arrived there at about 7:30am and the bus left at about 8am. While we were sitting on the bus, we watched Spiderman 2.
After about two hours, we arrived at ferry pier. We left the bus and went on the ferry boat. I started making friends by playing UNO with them. After an hour, we arrived at Orcas Island. We went on the bus and it was about 30mins before we arrived at the camp.
After we arrived, a lot of CITs and counselors welcomed us to camp by singing songs to us. Then we watched a show about what we should do and not do at the camp. After the show we got into our group and I was in Lummi Cabin.
When I saw inside of Shooknook Cabin, I started to sprint towards our cabin, because I wanted to sleep at the top. When I got to the cabin, I saw everything in the cabin was made of wood. Then I got on a top bed and thought about last time at another overnight camp, I always slept at the bottom while I wanted to sleep at the top.
Then my counselors told us to prepare for swimming test in the pool. The water was not cold and not hot and just right. After the swimming test, everyone in our cabin got green band. Then we went to play gaga ball together.
On the second day we played BMX. There were many activities for us to play while waiting, because the BMX line was just too long. So I played other games before the line got short. When I started to ride the bicycle, it was super fun, we went up and down in the small hill. The first time I rode it, I got injured. But after that I’ve never fallen again at BMX.
On the third day, we did a lot of cardboard sledding: we took our cardboard on the hill and sat on it, then we sledded down the hill and it was very fun. We even did some sleeping bag rolling. We got in our sleeping bag and rolled down the hill. Then we used the cardboard to build a suit of armor for our counselor to fight against other cabin counselor. We made a very big one for our counselor. After we were done, our counselor fought against Shooknook Cabin’s counselor. Who broke all of their enemies’ cardboard, who won. But our counselors lost.
On the fourth day, our cabin went to an island trip on Sucia Island. We played games over there and we built our own tent to live at night.
The fifth day was the funniest day at camp. We sailed back to Orcas Island and ate our lunch. After lunch we played zip line and it was 148 meters long. The most nervous part was when we looked down. After that it was not that scary. After zip line, we went to open rec and dinner. After dinner we went to a pool party where we could play water soccer in the pool.
The sixth day was the last open rec at camp so I spent all my money on ice cream. Then my friend and I went to the pool and played water soccer.
The seventh day was the last full day at camp. In the morning we did polar bear: we ran down to the cold ocean and got hot chocolate. Before lunch we did BMX again and the line was very short. In the afternoon we played flag capture with the whole camp including teachers. It was a huge game with 500 vs 500 people. Our team lost both of the rounds. But I was still very happy. Before we slept, we listened to music that made us happy. I chose “Good Time”.
On the last day of camp, we started to pack up our stuff to go home. I was very excited to go home so I was the first one to pack all of my stuff.
After lunch, we went to different buses to different places. I was the only person in my cabin who was on the light blue bus. I waved goodbye to my friends. When I got on the bus, I started thinking about all the fun stuff I had done in the camp. I thought it was the best in my three overnight camps in this summer.
After I arrived, I was so happy to see my parents and my little brother.
